Project: Jumelle Brooks for SC

Meet Dr. Jumelle Brooks, candidate for South Carolina House District 12. As an educator and a mother, she understands the challenges young people face as they prepare to enter adulthood. Jumelle is a fierce advocate for equitable resources, protecting public education, and advancing gender equality. She is also the co-host of Black, White, and Blue in the South—a lively, progressive podcast in a deeply conservative state.

Here’s how I helped bring consistency and focus to Jumelle Brooks’ campaign—building a cohesive visual identity and communication system across her website, advertising, and campaign materials.

An identity designed to represent the full community, not just one side.

We developed a bold, typography-driven identity centered on a custom wordmark. The stylized “E” introduces a subtle patriotic motif, tying the campaign visually to its civic purpose without feeling overly traditional. Designed for versatility, the mark maintains strong visibility and recognition across everything from social media to signage.

Red and blue are used together within a single, unified mark rather than as opposing elements. This approach reinforces Jumelle’s commitment to representing the full district, not just one side. The balance carries throughout the campaign, creating a visual system that feels inclusive, grounded, and community-focused.

A website designed to inform, engage, and mobilize voters.

The campaign website was designed to clearly communicate Jumelle’s platform, story, and priorities while making it easy for voters to take action. Built to be fully responsive, the site ensures accessibility across devices and audiences. Navigation is straightforward and intuitive, allowing visitors of all backgrounds and levels of political engagement to quickly find what they need. Strong calls to action for donating, volunteering, and learning more are integrated throughout, supporting a campaign that aims to engage the full community.

This section was designed to make donating as simple as possible. Because ActBlue does not allow embedded donation forms, custom code was used to connect each button to preset contribution amounts on the platform. The result is a smooth, low-friction experience that allows users to give quickly and easily.

A key section of the site focused on voter participation, providing direct access to registration resources, polling place information, and ways to support the campaign within the community.

Targeted social media campaigns designed to activate the community.

A series of social media ads designed to highlight key campaign messages through bold, easy-to-read visuals. Each piece was targeted specifically to voter demographics within district boundaries, ensuring the campaign reached the right audience and made the most of its advertising spend.

Postcards, print ads, and merchandise to spread the word.

A full suite of print and campaign materials was developed to extend the campaign’s presence into the community, including postcards, print ads, billboards, bumper stickers, and wearable merchandise. Each piece was designed for strong visibility and quick readability in real-world settings.

To better understand performance, custom QR codes were integrated across most materials and connected to Google Analytics. This allowed the campaign to track engagement from physical touchpoints and evaluate which efforts were driving the most traffic and support.

You need to reach as many supporters as possible in your efforts to bring change to our government. I believe in fully supporting our political candidates and political organizations that are fighting to make our communities a better, safer, and more inclusive home for our families.
