Project: Laurens County Museum
The Laurens County Museum Association set out to expand its presence with the acquisition of a historic building on the Square, just steps from the county courthouse. While the structure offered strong architectural character, it required significant repairs and updates to meet modern codes and support the museum’s long-term vision. To bring the project to life, the organization launched a major fundraising initiative and turned to its digital presence as a key tool for engaging the community and driving support.
Here’s how I helped bring focus to the Laurens County Museum Association campaign by building a cohesive digital presence and communication strategy to support fundraising, tell the story of the project, and connect with the community.
Branding updates
The Laurens County Museum Association was founded in 2005, and its original logo reflected that era. It featured a traditional, historical typeface paired with an outline of Laurens County, reinforcing the museum’s local roots and focus on preservation.

BEFORE:
With the move to the Witherspoon Building on the Square in Laurens, the organization needed an updated identity to match its new space and growing visibility. I introduced a more vibrant color palette to help the museum stand out while maintaining a classic, approachable feel. The new logo system was designed to be flexible, allowing it to function as a complete mark or as individual elements across signage and displays, including the building’s street-facing windows.
Website design
The Laurens County Museum Association needed a website that could support its fundraising efforts and better reflect its role in the community. An earlier version of the site provided a foundation, but over time it became difficult to update and did not fully align with the organization’s evolving goals.
I developed a new website concept focused on clear navigation, updated visuals, and storytelling. The design highlights key exhibits, events, and opportunities to support the museum, while making it easier for visitors to engage with the organization online. The proposed structure also allows for future growth, giving the museum a flexible platform to share its work and connect with a wider audience.

To help visitors better navigate the space, we designed interactive features such as an image hotspot map of the museum. This tool highlights key exhibits within the building, along with clearly marked entrances and exits, giving users a better sense of the layout before they arrive and enhancing their overall visit.

In addition to the branding and web design, I redesigned several social media profiles and developed miscellaneous print materials to promote the museum. As an added bonus, I photographed each of the exhibits. These photos were used to create detailed landing pages for each exhibit, and published in other marketing materials.
